Obesity and Prostate Cancer
It is well-known that obesity is the risk factor of a number of chronic diseases, such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus and coronary heart disease. However, have you imagined that obesity is closely related to prostate cancer as well?
A medical research published earlier found that obese people (Body Mass Index 30 or above) with prostate cancer were 20% to 30% more likely to die of the disease, compared to their non-obese counterparts (Boss Mass Index 18.5-24.9). Furthermore, a recent research found that for those prostate cancer patients who had undergone treatment, the obese patients were more likely to suffer from recurrence of the disease compared to the non-obese ones. In other words, obesity not only causes various chronic diseases, it also jeopardizes the health and chances of recovery for those who are so unfortunate to suffer from prostate cancer.
Although you may not have prostate cancer, as a smart guy, we believe you will certainly adopt healthy lifestyle and keep yourself away from obesity. If you want to know more, please visit the sections of Weight Control and Prostate Cancer of our website.
