Whole-Grain Foods
It is well known that healthy lifestyle, such as balanced diet and adequate exercise, can help preventing diabetes. A recent study has further shown that consumption of whole-grain foods is also helpful in reducing the chance of diabetes.
The study investigated 2,800 adults and found that people who consumed larger amount of whole-grain foods were less likely to develop insulin resistance and subsequently type 2 diabetes. The investigator of this study said that adding whole-grain food to the diet is not difficult. To do so, one simply needs to make minor adjustment in the diet, such as switching from their usual choice of white bread and white rice to whole-grain bread and brown rice respectively.
Of course, an adequate and balanced diet is essential in maintaining health. If you want to know more about healthy diet, please visit the section of "Eat Smart" of our website.
