Happier mind brings healthier body

Our body and mind are closely related to each other. Good health means having a strong body and a sound mind. If we can maintain a joyful mind, our immune system will be stronger so that we are more resistance to stress and diseases. However, if we are gloomy or angry all the times, we may be more prone to illness.

According to a study report announced by Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions in April 2002, young men expressing anger when facing stress are associated with a higher risk of coronary heart disease (especially myocardial infarction) before the age of 55. The chief researcher indicated that while it is not known how anger contributes to heart disease, there is evidence that stress and anger may lead to increased production of adrenalin and related substances by the body, which constrict the blood vessels and increase the workload of the heart.

Although more researches are needed to establish the relationship between mental health and various diseases, it is harmless to be happy. A laugh a day may help keep the doctor away.
