Do you have constipation?
The newspaper reported recently findings of a survey about constipation, jointly conducted by the University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. It was found that around one-seventh of some 3,000 respondents had the problem of constipation. However, only half of those found to have constipation in the survey were aware of their problems, and among those who were aware, only half had sought medical advice for constipation. Although constipation was more prevalent among women, the proportion of male sufferers was increasing.
Some people may consider constipation as a trivial problem and tend to ignore it, or try to self-medicate with laxatives. However, according to findings of the above survey, people with constipation are more likely to be anxious or depressed, which subsequently lowers their quality of life. As such, it could be seen that constipation is not always trivial!
Dear guys, if you want to reduce your chances of constipation, you have to pay attention to lifestyles such as eating more vegetables and doing adequate exercise. If you have constipation, it is best to seek doctor's advice early rather than self-medicating with laxatives.
